Program for the days

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Quito
Reception at the airport and transfer to a colonial hacienda on the outskirts of Quito. Gentle acclimatization walk through the gardens and grounds of the hacienda. Tour briefing and welcome dinner featuring Ecuadorian specialties.
Day 2
Colonial Quito and Panecillo Hill
Walking tour of Quito's Historic Center, a World Heritage Site. Visit colonial squares, Baroque churches, and local markets. Hike up Panecillo Hill for panoramic views of the city surrounded by volcanoes. Free afternoon in La Ronda.
Day 3
Cotopaxi and Limpiopungo Lagoon
Transfer to Cotopaxi National Park. Moderate hike around Limpiopungo Lagoon (3,800 meters above sea level) with views of the Cotopaxi volcano. Optional ascent to the José Ribas Refuge (4,800 meters above sea level). Overnight stay in a historic hacienda near the park with views of the volcano.
Day 4
Quilotoa Loop Walk between Villages
Start of the walk along the famous Quilotoa Loop, connecting traditional Andean villages. 4-5 hour trek through páramo landscapes and indigenous communities. Interaction with local families. Overnight stay in a community hostel or hacienda in the area.
Day 5
Quilotoa Lagoon
Hike to the edge of the Quilotoa crater with spectacular views of the turquoise lagoon. Optional descent to the water's edge (30 min descent, 1.5 hour climb or by mule). Free afternoon to enjoy the scenery and take photographs. Transfer to Baños.
Day 6
Baños Waterfall Route
Hike along the Waterfall Route, visiting the impressive Pailón del Diablo. Trekking between canyons and suspension bridges. Optional activities: swing at the end of the world, canopy or tarabita. Relaxing afternoon in the natural hot springs of Baños.
Day 7
Chimborazo The Colossus of the Andesl
Transfer to Chimborazo National Park, Ecuador's highest volcano (6,263 meters above sea level). Acclimatization hike to the Carrel Refuge (4,800 meters above sea level) or Whymper Refuge (5,000 meters above sea level). Observation of wild vicuñas. Overnight stay in a traditional hacienda in Riobamba.
Day 8
Inca Trail and Colta Lagoon
Hike along a preserved section of the ancient Inca Trail (Qhapaq Ñan). Visit the historic Colta Lagoon and its colonial church. Lunch in an indigenous community. Transfer to Cuenca with scenic stops along the way..
Day 9
Colonial Cuenca
Full day exploring Cuenca on foot, a World Heritage Site. Tour of cobbled streets, the New Cathedral, the Tomebamba River, and the El Barranco neighborhood. Visit to a Panama hat workshop. Free afternoon for museums or art galleries.
Day 10
Cajas National Park
Trekking excursion to Cajas National Park, a unique Andean páramo ecosystem. 4-6 hour hike among glacial lagoons at 4,000 meters above sea level. Observation of endemic flora and Andean birds. Mist-shrouded landscapes and ancient rock formations. Return to Cuenca.
Day 11
Papallacta Hot Springs
Transfer back to Quito through the Eastern Cordillera. Stop in Papallacta, a famous natural hot springs resort at 3,300 meters above sea level. Optional hike through the cloud forest trails. Relaxing afternoon in the thermal pools with mountain views. Overnight in Papallacta or a nearby farm.
Day 12
Farewell
Free morning for a final thermal session or short hike. Transfer to Quito airport. Farewell with memories of volcanoes, ancient cultures, and the hospitality of Ecuadorian farms.
