Delve into the magic of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This natural sanctuary of tropical rainforest is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, including pink river dolphins, caimans, anacondas, various species of monkeys, sloths, jaguars, more than 500 species of birds, and countless unique insects and amphibians.Canoe through the calm black waters of Laguna Grande and its tributary rivers, surrounded by lush vegetation that is perfectly reflected in the water like a natural mirror.

Itinerary

Day 1

Quito to Cuyabeno

Early flight to Lago Agrio or overnight bus. Transfer to Puente Cuyabeno (2.5 hours). Box lunch. Canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River (2 hours) observing birds, monkeys, and pink dolphins. Arrival at the lodge and check-in. Night walk to observe poisonous frogs, insects, and tarantulas. Dinner and rest.

Day 2

Exploration of Laguna Grande

Early breakfast. Boat trip to Laguna Grande observing herons, hoatzins, howler monkeys, and capuchin monkeys. Swimming in the lagoon. Walk through primary forest learning about medicinal plants and giant trees. Sightings of sloths, toucans, and parrots. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon piranha fishing (optional). Sunset at the lagoon. Nighttime canoe excursion to observe caimans and anacondas. Dinner.

Day 3

Siona Indigenous Community

Boat trip to the Siona or Kichwa community. Cultural encounter: preparation of cassava bread, blowgun demonstration, medicinal plants, and handicrafts. Lunch. Deep jungle hike in search of tapir and peccary tracks. Canopy wildlife observation. Boat trip at sunset. Farewell dinner with Amazonian dishes.

Day 4

Return to Lago Agrio

Early breakfast. Last short hike. Return navigation down the river (2 hours) with last chances to spot dolphins and caimans. Transfer to Lago Agrio (2.5 hours). Box lunch. Flight to Quito or night bus. End of the adventure.
