Explore workshops of master artisans where the famous Panama hats, Chordeleg ceramics, filigree jewelry, and Andean textiles are made. Visit picturesque villages where ancestral traditions remain alive on every corner.

Program for the days

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Cuenca
Reception at Cuenca airport and transfer to boutique hotel in historic center. Orientation walk through the cobblestone streets of the colonial quarter. Free afternoon to explore plazas and cafes. Welcome dinner featuring traditional Cuenca cuisine.
Day 2
Colonial Cuenca City Tour
Complete walking tour of Cuenca, a World Heritage Site. Visit the New Cathedral with its iconic blue domes, the Old Cathedral, Plaza de las Flores, and the 10 de Agosto market. Tour along the Tomebamba River and the picturesque El Barranco neighborhood. Visit the Pumapungo Museum with Inca ruins and ethnobotanical gardens.
Day 3
Artisan Route Gualaceo, Chordeleg, and Sígsig
Excursion along the artisan route visiting three traditional villages. In Gualaceo, Sunday market (if applicable) and ikat textile workshops. In Chordeleg, gold and silver filigree jewelry workshops and artisan ceramics. In Sígsig, observation of toquilla straw hat weaving. Typical lunch in the valley.
Day 4
Panama Hat Workshop and Turi Viewpoint
Exclusive visit to a traditional Panama Hat workshop, observing the entire process from weaving to finishing. Explanation of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Afternoon at the Turi Viewpoint with panoramic views of Cuenca. Optional visit to a pottery or artisanal chocolate workshop.
Day 5
Cajas National Park
Full-day excursion to Cajas National Park, a unique Andean páramo ecosystem with more than 200 lagoons. 3-4 hour hike along trails between glacial lagoons at 4,000 meters above sea level. Observation of endemic flora and fauna in misty landscapes. Picnic lunch. Return to Cuenca.
Day 6
Ingapirca and Traditional Hacienda
Trip to Ingapirca, the most important Inca archaeological site in Ecuador. Guided tour of the ruins of the Temple of the Sun and site museum. Lunch in an indigenous community with traditional Cañari-Inca food. Transfer to a historic hacienda in the countryside. Night at the hacienda with dinner by the fire.
Day 7
Biblián and San Francisco de Sigsipamba
Excursion to Biblián to visit the impressive Sanctuary of the Virgin of Rocío, built in living rock. Continue to San Francisco de Sigsipamba, a traditional village with preserved colonial architecture. Visit local artisan workshops. Free afternoon at the hacienda for optional horseback riding or hiking in the surrounding area.
Day 6
Return and Farewell
Free morning for last-minute shopping at Cuenca's artisan markets or an optional visit to the Museum of Aboriginal Cultures. Transfer to Cuenca airport for departure flight. Farewell with authentic memories of the art, tradition, and landscapes of southern Ecuador.
