Program for the days

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Quito
Reception at Quito International Airport and transfer to the hotel in the historic center. Welcome and tour briefing. Free afternoon to acclimatize to the altitude (2,850 meters above sea level). Welcome dinner featuring contemporary Ecuadorian cuisine.
Day 2
Colonial Quito
Full-day tour of Quito's Historic Center, a World Heritage Site. Visit to the Plaza Grande, Iglesia de la Compañía, San Francisco, and La Basílica. Ascent to El Panecillo for panoramic views. Visit to the City Museum and walk through the La Ronda neighborhood.
Day 3
Middle of the World and Pululahua Reserve
Excursion to the Mitad del Mundo Monument and Intiñan Museum with experiments on the equator. Visit to the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve, an inhabited volcanic crater. Afternoon in Mindo or return to Quito with a stop at a panoramic viewpoint.
Day 4
Otavalo and Lakes
Trip to the famous indigenous market in Otavalo, the largest in South America. Purchase of handicrafts, textiles, and local products. Visit to Cuicocha Lagoon with optional walk around the crater. Stop in the town of Cotacachi, famous for its leather products.
Day 5
Quilotoa and Volcano Route
Travel along the spectacular Avenue of the Volcanoes to Laguna del Quilotoa, a volcanic crater with turquoise waters. Hike down to the crater (optional). Visit local indigenous communities. Overnight in Latacunga or Riobamba.
Day 6
Baths of Holy Water
Transfer to Baños, the “Gateway to the Amazon.” Waterfall Route visiting the Pailón del Diablo and other waterfalls. Optional activities: zip-lining, bungee jumping, or rafting. Visit to the Swing at the End of the World. Night in Baños.
Day 7
Riobamba and Train to the Devil's Nose
Travel to Alausi to board the famous Train to the Devil's Nose, a feat of railway engineering. Cultural experience in an indigenous community. Continue to Cuenca. Overnight in Cuenca.
Day 8
Colonial Cuenca
Complete tour of Cuenca, a World Heritage Site. Visit to the New Cathedral, flower market, Tomebamba River, and El Barranco neighborhood. Tour of the Panama Hat factory. Visit to museum and art galleries. Free afternoon to explore.
Day 9
Cajas National Park
Full-day excursion to Cajas National Park, a páramo ecosystem with more than 200 lagoons. Hike along trails at 4,000 meters above sea level, observing Andean flora and fauna. Surreal landscapes shrouded in mist. Return to Cuenca.
Day 10
Route to Guayaquil
Travel to the coast through diverse climatic zones. Stop at cocoa, banana, or coffee plantations depending on the route. Arrival in Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest city. City tour of Malecón 2000, Las Peñas, and Iguana Park.
Day 11
Transfer to the Coast
Travel to the province of Manabí or Santa Elena. Accommodation in a beachfront resort or boutique hotel. Free afternoon to enjoy the beach, pool, and sunset over the Pacific. Dinner featuring fresh seafood.
Day 12
Beach Day and Activities
Full day of relaxation on the beach with optional activities: surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or humpback whale watching excursion (June-September). Visit to a local fishing village. Tasting of traditional Ecuadorian ceviche.
Day 13
Machalilla National Park
Excursion to Machalilla National Park. Hike in the tropical dry forest observing endemic birds. Visit to Los Frailes beach, considered one of the most beautiful in Ecuador. Snorkeling or optional visit to Isla de la Plata (the Galapagos for the poor).
Day 14
Return to Guayaquil and Farewell
Transfer back to Guayaquil. Free time for last-minute shopping at craft markets or shopping centers. Transfer to José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport for departure flight. End of tour with memories of Ecuador complete.
