Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Tena

Departure from Quito to Tena (4-5 hours) with a stop at waterfalls along the way. Arrival and check-in at eco-lodge. Lunch. Afternoon exploring the town, boardwalk, and craft shops. Welcome dinner featuring Amazonian dishes.

Day 2

Rafting on the Jatunyacu River

Breakfast. Transfer to the starting point. Safety briefing. Class III-IV rafting through exciting rapids (2-3 hours). Lunch by the river. Afternoon of tubing or kayaking. Swimming in natural pools. Dinner and rest.

Day 3

Kichwa Community

Canoe trip to the Kichwa indigenous community. Welcome ritual with guayusa. Walk to learn about medicinal plants and blowpipe techniques. Demonstration of cassava chicha and pottery. Shigras weaving workshops. Community lunch with maitos. Body painting with achiote. Option of a cleansing ceremony. Dinner.

Day 4

Jumandy Waterfalls and Caves

Excursion to Jumandy Caverns and swimming in an underground river. Visit to hidden waterfalls. Hike to observe monkeys, toucans, and morpho butterflies. Swimming in pools. Lunch. Afternoon at the AmaZOÓnico rescue center observing rescued animals. Farewell dinner with traditional dance.

Day 5

Canopy and Return

Breakfast. Canopy over the jungle canopy. Short hike along botanical trails. Check-out and box lunch. Return trip to Quito (4-5 hours) with scenic stops. End of the adventure.
